In honor of the late Melida Carter Wilson, a Kennesaw State University alumna and tireless community advocate, this scholarship celebrates those who embody servant leadership. Mrs. Wilson dedicated her life to overcoming challenges and uplifting her community, and now we’re looking for passionate individuals like you who are committed to following in her footsteps.

Eligibility:

Current African American female high school seniors in Bartow County

Minimum 2.50 GPA by the end of your first semester

What We’re Looking For:

• A one-page essay answering: “What is servant leadership, and how do you exemplify it in your school and community?”

• A list of your extracurricular and community service activities—show us how you’re making an impact!

• One letter of recommendation from a non-family member who can speak to your character and service.

• A current resume highlighting your experiences and achievements.

• Your unofficial transcript.

This prestigious service-based scholarship honors the legacy of Mr. Dean, a proud alumnus of Tennessee State University, a man who truly embodied the TSU motto: “Enter to Learn and Go Forth to Serve.” 🌍✨
 

Who can apply?
If you’re a graduating senior from any high school in Bartow County, planning to pursue a degree at Tennessee State University or another HBCU, this is your chance! 

Eligibility Requirements:

• Must have a minimum 2.50 GPA by the end of your first semester as a senior

• Must be committed to community service and eager to make a positive impact in Bartow County

• Must anticipate graduating on time

Who Can Apply?
Current high school seniors in Bartow County with a minimum GPA of 2.75.
 

Application Requirements:

• Complete the application form

• Submit a one-page essay detailing your educational goals and how you plan to make an impact

• Include personal information (like your name, parents' names, school info, etc.)
